FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men’s basketball head coach Larry Eustachy announced Friday that Marcus Holt, a senior forward from Aurora, Colo., has signed a financial aid agreement and will return to complete his collegiate playing career with the Rams for the 2014-15 season.
“We are very happy to welcome Marcus back into our program,” said Eustachy about Holt’s return to the Rams’ roster. “Competitive players always want to be in a situation where they feel like they can contribute to the success of a program. After exploring his options, Marcus decided that he can have that kind of impact at CSU, and my staff and I believe that too.”
Holt, a graduate of Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colo., transferred to Colorado State after two years at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas. During his first season with the Rams, he played in 30 of 32 games and averaged 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, shooting 59 percent (33-of-56) from the field and recording a team-leading 21 blocks.
“After taking some time to think about my future I have decided that I will be rejoining the Colorado State men’s basketball team,” said Holt. “I want to thank Coach Eustachy for his support and understanding throughout this entire process. I appreciate him keeping the door open and allowing me to come back. I have discussed this with my teammates as well and they have welcomed me back with open arms. I really look forward to finishing my career in the green and gold as well as completing my degree.”
Holt initially requested, and was granted, a release from his scholarship agreement in early April. He is one of four seniors currently slated for the Rams’ 2014-15 roster along with all-MW performers Daniel Bejarano and J.J. Avila, and Division I transfer Stanton Kidd, who came to CSU from North Carolina Central and sat out the 2013-14 season per NCAA transfer rules.
