FORT COLLINS, Colo. - "Reaching the Peak," the reality television series about the 2008-09 Colorado State men's basketball team aired nationally on the Mountain West Sports Network (the mtn.), has been nominated by the Heartland Chapter of the National Television Academy for an Emmy award for best program series.
The six-part series, which ran last November and December was produced by Jon Rees, Frank Martin and Alysen Hargrove and edited by Adrian Cruz, and gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the beginning of CSU's 2008-09 basketball season.
Each show also featured a "Coach `Em Up" segment in which one of the Rams' coaches instructed the viewers on how to perform a certain basketball task. The "Coach `Em Up" segment also earned a nomination for advanced media - interactivity.
The mtn. was nominated for an Emmy in eight categories. Heartland Chapter Emmy winners will be announced on Sat., July 18.
The mtn. was the only sports entity besides ESPN and CBS Sports to receive a nomination. The network, which debuted in September 2006, is the first network solely dedicated to a single college athletic conference.
