CSU's Holt, Cohn granted release from basketball program

April 4, 2014

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men’s basketball head coach Larry Eustachy announced Friday that freshman guard David Cohn and junior forward/center Marcus Holt will leave Colorado State University at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year, and have been granted full releases to transfer to another institution.

“Both Marcus and David indicated that they are looking for a different opportunity and a better fit to continue their playing careers,” said Eustachy. “Both are great character guys. We appreciate all the hard work that they put in this season, and I we will do anything we can to help support them in this transition.”

Cohn, from York High School in Elmhurst, Ill., played in 31 games with five starts during his freshman campaign. He averaged 3.9 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, dishing out 29 assists and notching 12 steals while shooting 36 percent (16-45) from three-point range and 79 percent (42-53) from the free-throw line.

Holt, a graduate of Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colo., transferred to Colorado State after two years at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas. During his one season with the Rams, he played in 30 games and averaged 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, shooting 59 percent (33-56) from the field and recording a team-leading 21 blocks.
