Complete Release in PDF Format MATCHUP QUICKFACTS Colorado State finished the 2008-09 season with a mark of 9-21 overall and 4-12 in Mountain West Conference action. The 4-12 record puts the Rams as the No. 8 seed in the 2009 Conoco Mountain West Conference Tournament. CSU will take on the Air Force Falcons, who are the No. 9 seed. Air Force finished the regular season at 9-20 (0-16 MWC). The Rams will be playing in the opening-round game of the conference tournament for the second consecutive season. Last year, the Rams posted a 68-63 win against Wyoming, before falling to top-seeded BYU in the quarterfinals. The Rams and Falcons will be meeting in the Mountain West tournament for just the second time in school history. In 2004, the No. 8 Rams shocked the No. 1 Falcons, 60-48, in the quarterfinals. Colorado State is 7-8 all-time in the Mountain West tournament. The Rams have won at least one game in each of the past three seasons in the tournament. On Monday, senior guard Marcus Walker was named to third-team all-conference by the Mountain West. It marked the second consecutive season he earned all-conference honors (second-team and MWC Newcomer of the Year last season). Walker needs just 19 points to move into 15th place in school history in scoring. He has scored at least 15 points in eight straight games and is averaging 21.3 points per game during that stretch. He finished the regular season ranked second in the MWC in scoring average (17.7) during the league season. It marked the second straight season that Walker finished second in the conference in scoring (17.1 per game last season). ABOUT AIR FORCE This season, the Falcons became the second team in Mountain West history to lose all 16 conference games (Colorado State, 2007-08). Despite going winless in conference play, Air Force has hung tough with some of the top teams in the MWC, including three-point losses at UNLV (March 4) and vs. Wyoming (Feb. 28) and a five-point defeat at top-seeded BYU on Saturday. The Falcons have never won a game in the Mountain West tournament. SERIES HISTORY The Rams and Falcons will meet for the 93rd time overall and for the fifth time in postseason action. CSU and Air Force met three times in WAC tournaments (1984, 1990, 1995) and then again in the MWC tournament in 2004. CSU has won three of those four meetings. The Rams won both meetings between the two teams this season.
