Opening tip

  • Colorado State returns to action this week, hosting San José State in its final regular-season home game of the year.
  • Tipoff between the Rams and Spartans is set for 7 p.m. MT on Wednesday at Moby Arena. 
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action. 
  • The matchup will also be streamed for free on the Mountain West Network.
  • The game marks the eighth in the series between the Rams and Spartans. CSU is a perfect 7-0 in the series, including a 3-0 mark at home against SJSU. 
  • Colorado State slid past the Spartans, 66-64, in their initial matchup of the season, Jan. 8 at The Event Center in San José, Calif. 
  • The game will mark the Rams' annual "Senior Night" celebration.  Seniors Gerson Santo and Josh Morgan will be honored in a postgame ceremony. 

About San José State

  • San José State enters Wednesday's contest with a 7-21 overall record, and a 1-15 mark in Mountain West play to sit in last place in the league standings.  
  • The Spartans have lost two straight since snapping a 13-game losing streak at Nevada (66-64) on Feb. 18. SJSU most recently dropped contests at San Diego State (90-64) on Feb. 25 and vs. Utah State (75-58) on March 1.  
  • The Spartans are 3-11 away from home this season, including a 1-7 mark in road games during MW play. 
  • The Spartans are led by freshman guard Rashad Muhammad, the only freshman to rank in the top 20 in the MW in scoring at 13.3 points per game. He ranks first in the MW in three-point percentage (.414), and is second in the league for three-pointers made per game (2.5). 
  • Senior forward Chris Cunningham ranks as SJSU's top rebounder at 6.3 boards per game, 13th in the league. 
  • Offensively, the Spartans rank 11th in the MW scoring 63.0 points per game, and rank 9th in the league allowing   71.1 points per contest. 
  • Head coach Dave Wojcik is 7-21 in his first year at the helm of the SJSU program, and his first season as a head coach, after spending the previous three seasons as associate head coach at Boise State.

Series vs. San José State

  • Wednesday's game between San José State and Colorado State marks the eighth meeting all-time between the programs, dating back to the first meeting - a 91-65 home win for CSU - in 1969-70.
  • The Rams are a 7-0 all-time against the Spartans, 
  • CSU is 3-0 all-time in home games against San José State, but the Rams have not hosted the Spartans since capturing an 81-52 victory at Moby Arena during the 1997-98 season. 
  • Colorado State slid past the Spartans, 66-64, in their initial matchup of the season, Jan. 8 at The Event Center in San José, Calif.

A win over San José State will...

  • Move Head Coach Larry Eustachy's record to 42-23 at Colorado State and 444-281 overall.
  • Push the Rams' record to 16-14 overall, 7-10 (MW).
  • Improve the Rams' record vs. SJSU to 8-0, including a 4-0 mark in home games vs. the Spartans. 
  • Give the Rams a regular-season sweep of the Spartans. CSU also captured a pair of victories this season over Air Force. 
  • Mark the Rams' 16th victory of the season, securing a fourth-consecutive winning regular season, the longest stretch for the program since a 9-year run from 1992-93 to 2000-01. 
  • Move Colorado State to 14-6 at home this season.

Eustachy vs. San José State

  • Colorado State head coach Larry Eustachy is 6-3 all-time in his coaching career against San José State.
  • He is 1-0 against the Spartans as head coach of CSU.
  • Eustachy posted a 5-2 mark vs. SJSU during his tenure at Utah State, and was 0-1 in his lone game vs. the Spartans during his tenure at Iowa State.  
  • Eustachy is 3-1 all-time when hosting San José State, all coming as head coach of Utah State from 1994-96.

Senior Night/Green Out

  • Wednesday's game vs. SJSU marks the Rams' annual "Senior Night" and "Green Out" of Moby Arena. 
  • The Rams will don their green uniforms with white and gold trim for the final regular-season home game of the year. 
  • Head Coach Larry Eustachy and the team will honor the careers of seniors Gerson Santo and Josh Morgan with a postgame ceremony.

Looking ahead

  • Colorado State closes out the 2013-14 regular season  on the road against rival Wyoming in the second leg of the Border War. 
  • Tipoff between the Rams and Cowboys is set for 2 p.m. MT on Saturday, March 8 at UW's Arena-Auditorium. 
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action. 
  • The matchup will also be broadcast live on ROOT Sports Rocky Mountain with Barry Tompkins (play-by-play) and Joe Cravens (analyst). 
  • The game will also be available outside of the ROOT Rocky Mountain footprint via free live stream at CSURams.com/videos. 
  • The game marks the 221st in the series between the Rams and Cowboys. Colorado State is 92-128 in the series, including 37-73 mark in games played in Laramie. 
  • Colorado State cruised to an 82-67 victory in this year's first installment of the annual rivalry series on Feb. 22 at Moby Arena.
