Opening tip

  • Colorado State travels to Las Vegas looking for a regular-season sweep of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels.
  • Tipoff between the Rams and Rebs is set for 9 p.m. MT/8 p.m. PT at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.  
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action. 
  • The matchup will also be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network with Rich Waltz (play-by-play), Doug Gottlieb (color) and Kristine Leahy (sideline). 
  • The game marks the 48th in the series between the Rams and Rebels. Colorado State trails, 35-12 overall, and is just 4-20 all-time in the series in games played in Las Vegas. 
  • Colorado State cruised to a 75-57 victory over UNLV in the first matchup this season at Moby Arena on Feb. 5. 

About UNLV

  • UNLV enters Wednesday's contest with a 17-10 overall record, and an 8-6 mark in Mountain West play to sit in a tie for fourth in the conference standings.  
  • The Runnin' Rebels have lost two straight entering the Wednesday's matchup, falling at home to New Mexico (68-56) on Feb. 19, and losing 91-90 in overtime at Boise State on Saturday. 
  • UNLV is 10-6 at Thomas & Mack Center this season, including a 4-3 mark in home games during MW play. 
  • The Rebs boast four players that average double-figures scoring in junior guard Bryce Dejean-Jones (13.6 ppg), junior forward Khem Birch (11.6), junior forward Roscoe Smith (11.2) and senior guard Kevin Olekaibe (10.4). 
  • Bryce Dejean-Jones ranks 15th in the MW in scoring.
  • Roscoe Smith ranks fourth in the nation in rebounding, pulling down 11.1 boards per game. Front court mate Khem Birch ranks just behind him, 22nd in the nation and fourth in the MW at 9.6 rebounds per game. 
  • Kevin Olekaibe, a Fresno State transfer, has knocked down 62 threes on the year, ranking fourth in the MW with 2.3 per game. 
  • UNLV ranks sixth in the MW in scoring (71.3 ppg), but is third in the league in defense (64.8 ppg) and fourth in scoring margin (+6.4). 
  • The Rebels also rank first in the MW in three-point percentage defense (.284) and third in field-goal percentage defense (.400). 
  • Head Coach Dave Rice, a member of UNLV's 1990 National Championship team, is in his third year at his alma mater, where he has compiled a 68-29 record.

Series vs. UNLV

  • Wednesday's game between UNLV and Colorado State marks the 48th meeting all-time between the programs, dating back to the first meeting – a 90-85 home loss for CSU – in 1978-79.
  • The Rams trail the all-time series with the Rebels, 35-12, but CSU has won three of the last four regular-season matchups between the programs. 
  • The Rams are 4-20 all-time vs. UNLV in games played in Las Vegas. CSU has lost two straight on the road against the Rebels, dating back to a 78-63 Rams' victory at the Thomas & Mack Center in 2010-11. 
  • Since the formation of the Mountain West conference in 1999-2000, the Rams are 8-21 against the Rebels in regular-season matchups and 1-3 in conference tournament games.

A win over UNLV will...

  • Move Head Coach Larry Eustachy’s record to 42-22 at Colorado State and 444-280 overall.
  • Push the Rams’ record to 16-13 overall, 7-9 (MW).
  • Improve the Rams’ record vs. UNLV to 13-35.
  • Give the Rams their first road win over UNLV since the 2010-11 campaign.
  • Mark the first regular-season sweep of the Runnin' Rebels since the 2000-01 season when the Rams won 80-55 at home, and captured a 68-62 road win. 
  • Mark the Rams' 16th victory of the season, securing a fourth-consecutive winning regular season, the longest stretch for the program since a 9-year run from 1992-93 to 2000-01. 
  • Move Colorado State to 3-7 on the road this season.

Eustachy vs. UNLV

  • Colorado State head coach Larry Eustachy is 5-5 all-time in his coaching career against UNLV.
  • He is 2-2 against the Rebels as head coach of CSU.
  • Eustachy posted a 3-3 mark vs. UNLV during his time as the head coach at Utah State. 
  • Eustachy is 1-4 against the Rebels in the Thomas & Mack Center, and enters Wednesday's game in search of his first road win over UNLV since a 76-72 win on Feb. 16, 1995 as the coach of Utah State.

Looking ahead

  • After an idle date in the schedule, Colorado State returns to Fort Collins to host San José State in its final regular-season home game of the year.
  • Tipoff between the Rams and Spartans is set for 7 p.m. MT on Wednesday, March 5 at Moby Arena. 
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action. 
  • The matchup will also be streamed for free on the Mountain West Network.
  • The game marks the eighth in the series between the Rams and Spartans. Colorado State is a perfect 7-0 in the series, including a 3-0 mark at home against SJSU. 
  • Colorado State slid past the Spartans, 66-64, in their initial matchup of the season, Jan. 8 at The Event Center in San José, Calif. 
  • The game will mark the Rams' annual "Senior Night" celebration.  Seniors Gerson Santo and Josh Morgan will be honored in a postgame ceremony.
