Opening tip

  • Colorado State (12-10, 3-6 MW) hosts a mid-week matchup against UNLV (15-7, 6-3 MW). 
  • Tipoff between the Rams and Rebels is set for a 7 p.m. MT at Moby Arena.  
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action. 
  • The matchup will also be broadcast live on ESPN3, with Ari Wolfe (play-by-play) and Blaine Fowler (color analyst). 
  • The matchup between CSU and UNLV is the 47th in the series between the conference foes. CSU trails, 35-11 in the all-time series, and has posted a 7-14 mark all-time against UNLV in games played in Fort Collins. 

About UNLV

  • UNLV enters Wednesday's contest with a 15-7 overall record, and a 6-3 mark in Mountain West play to sit in fourth place in the conference standings.  
  • The Runnin' Rebels ride a four-game win streak into the matchup. 
  • UNLV is 6-2 away from the Thomas & Mack Center, with a 4-2 mark in true road games and a 2-0 record in neutral-court contests. 
  • The Rebs boas four players that average double-figures scoring in junior guard Bryce Dejean-Jones (14.2 ppg), junior forward Roscoe Smith (11.8), junior forward Khem Birch (11.4) and senior guard Kevin Olekaibe (10.5). 
  • Bryce Dejean-Jones ranks 15th in the MW in scoring, and is ninth in the conference averaging 3.2 assists per game. 
  • Roscoe Smith leads the nation in rebounding, pulling down 11.8 boards per game. Front court mate Khem Birch ranks just behind him, 24th in the nation and fourth in the MW at 9.5 rebounds per game. Smith is also first in the nation in double-doubles, while Birch ranks second with 83 blocks on the year. 
  • Kevin Olekaibe, a Fresno State transfer, has knocked down 52 threes on the year, ranking fifth in the MW with 2.4 per game. 
  • UNLV ranks seven in the MW in scoring (72.8 ppg), but is third in the league in defense (64.1 ppg) and scoring margin (+8.7). 
  • The Rebels also rank first in the MW in three-point percentage defense (.266) and second in field-goal percentage defense (.390). 
  • Head Coach Dave Rice, a member of UNLV's 1990 National Championship team, is in his third year at his alma mater, where he has compiled a 66-26 record.

Series vs. UNLV

  • Wednesday's game between UNLV and Colorado State marks the 47th meeting all-time between the programs, dating back to the first meeting - a 90-85 home loss for CSU - in 1978-79.
  • The Rams trail the all-time series with the Rebels, 35-11, but the programs have split the last six regular-season meetings. UNLV also knocked CSU out of the semifinals of the 2013 MW tournament, 75-65, last March, taking a slight 4-3 edge since 2010-11. 
  • The Rams have won two straight at home in the series, and are 7-14 overall against the Rebels in games played in Fort Collins. 
  • Since the formation of the Mountain West conference in 1999-2000, the Rams are 7-21 against the Rebels in regular-season matchups and 1-3 in conference tournament games.

A win over UNLV will...

  • Move Head Coach Larry Eustachy's record to 39-19 at Colorado State and 441-277 overall. 
  • Pull the Rams to 12-35 all-time against the Rebels. 
  • Mark the Rams' third straight home win the series.

Eustachy vs. UNLV

  • Colorado State head coach Larry Eustachy is 4-5 all-time in his coaching career when facing off against UNLV.
  • He is 1-2 against the Rebels as the head coach of the Rams, splitting the regular-season meetings in 2012-13 before falling at UNLV in the semifinals of the 2013 MW Championships. 
  • Eustachy posted a 3-3 mark vs. UNLV during his time as the head coach at Utah State. 
  • Eustachy has fared well in home games against UNLV, going 3-1 when hosting the Rebels during his career.

  • The matchup will also be streamed live on the Mountain West Network, with Josh Howe (play-by-play), Jesse Kurtz and Andy Glockner (color analyst). 
  • The game marks the 103rd in the series between the Rams and Falcons.  Colorado State leads 71-31, including a 29-19 mark in games played in Colorado Springs.
