Opening tip

  • Colorado State returns to Moby Arena for the first of back-to-back home games, hosting in-state rival Air Force on Saturday afternoon. 
  • The tilt between the Rams and the Falcons is set for a 4 p.m. MT tipoff. 
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action. 
  • The rivalry matchup will also air regionally on ROOT Sports Rocky Mountain, with Drew Goodman and Joe Cravens on the call.  
  • Free streaming video will also be available outside of the ROOT RM footprint via the Mountain West network.
  • The game marks the 102nd in the series between the Rams and Falcons.  Colorado State leads 70-31, including a 37-10 mark in games played in Fort Collins. 

About Air Force

  • Air Force enters Saturday's contest with an overall record of 9-7 and a 3-2 mark to start Mountain West play.
  • The Falcons, boast conference wins vs. Utah State (73-72), at UNLV (75-68) and  vs. San Jose State (77-62), with narrow losses at Fresno State (71-65) and vs. San Diego State (79-72).  
  • The Falcons are an impressive 1-3 on the road this season, and 2-3 overall away from Clune Arena with a neutral-court victory over Army to open the season. 
  • Three players average double-figures scoring on the season for Air Force, led by sophomore guard Tre' Coggins who averages 18.4 points per game. Junior guard Max Yon and junior forward Marek Olesinski average 13.3 points and 12.4 points per game, respectively.
  • In league play, Coggins has improved his scoring average to 22.2 points per contest. 
  • Junior forward Kamryn Williams ranks as the team's top rebounder at 6.4 rebounds per game. 
  • Offensively, the Falcons rank second in the MW field-goal percentage (.479) and three-pointers made per game (7.9). 
  • The team ranks as the ninth in the MW in scoring offense, posting 73.2 points per game, and is seventh in the league allowing 70.3  per contest. 
  • Head Coach Dave Pilipovich, who is in his second full season with the Falcons after taking over midway through the 2011-12 campaign, owns a 29-27 record at the school.
  • Pilipovich’s son Kyle is a student manager with the Rams.

Series vs. Air Force

  • Saturday's game between the Rams and the Falcons marks the 102nd in the series between the programs, dating back to the first meeting - a 70-62 home win for Air Force - during the 1956-57 season. 
  • Colorado State leads the series, 70-31. 
  • The two programs have competed as conference rivals every year since 1980-81, and have played at least once each season since the 1960-61 campaign. 
  • Colorado State is 37-10 all-time against the Falcons in games played in Fort Collins. The Rams have won five straight home games in the series. 
  • Overall, the Rams have captured four consecutive wins over the Falcons, and have won nine of 11 games since snapping an eight-game losing streak with a regular-season sweep during the 2008-09 campaign.

A win over Air Force will...

  • Move Head Coach Larry Eustachy's record to 38-16 at Colorado State and 440-274 overall. 
  • Make the Rams 71-31 all-time against Air Force, and push CSU's record against the Falcons to 38-10 in Fort Collins. 
  • Give CSU six straight home wins over Air Force, and push the Rams overall win streak against the Falcons to five. 
  • Even Colorado State's record in MW play at 3-3, and give the Rams three wins in four games after an 0-2 start with losses vs. San Diego State and at New Mexico.

Eustachy vs. Air Force

  • Colorado State head coach Larry Eustachy is 2-0 against Air Force in his 23-year head coaching career.
  • Eustachy led the Rams to a series sweep of the Falcons in 2012-13, capturing a 79-40 home win, and escaping with an 89-86 road win.

Schedule Update

  • The tip time for Colorado State's Jan. 25 home game against New Mexico has been shifted from a 9 p.m. MT start to a 2 p.m. MT tipoff.  The game, which is the Rams' annual White Out, will be streamed on ESPN3.com.  
  • The Rams' Feb. 5 home game vs. UNLV has also shifted times. The Rams and Rebels will now tip at 7 p.m. MT and will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.

Looking ahead

  • Colorado State is idle Wednesday before hosting MW preseason favorite New Mexico at Moby Arena on Saturday, Jan. 25. 
  • Tipoff between the Rams and Lobos is set for a 2 p.m. MT.  
  • The contest is the Rams' annual "White Out" for cancer awareness. CSU's coaching staff will also don sneakers for the game as part of Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness weekend, a collaboration between the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and the American Cancer Society. 
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action. 
  • The matchup will also be broadcast on ESPN3.com. 
  • The Lobos edged the Rams in the first matchup of the year, holding on for an 80-73 win on Jan. 4 at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M.
