Sam Waniewski enters his first season as the video coordinator for Colorado State men's basketball in 2012-13, joining the Rams as a member of head coach Larry Eustachy's initial staff in Fort Collins.
In his roles as the Rams' video coordinator, he will handle tape exchanges, break down video, record practices and games, and coordinating the team's video library.
Waniewski, a native of Woodland, Calif., joins the Colorado State staff after working as a graduate assistant under Eustachy at Southern Miss during the 2011-12 season.
Prior to his stint at USM, he spent the 2010-11 season as a graduate assistant at Concordia University Nebraska, where he directed the program's operations, while coordinating recruiting efforts and film exchange.
Waniewski earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in coaching and administration from Chico State University in 2009. While at Chico State, he was a member of the Wildcat's basketball program as a redshirt during his freshman season, before becoming a student manager for the squad from 2005-10.
He was recruited to Chico State after a standout prep career at Woodland Christian High School where he set the school's single-game record with nine three-pointers in a game.
During his time at Chico State, Waniewski coached for two AAU programs, the Golden Valley Bears (2007), and the Chico Blazin' Heat (2009-10), and held stints as an assistant coach at Pleasant Valley High School (2005-10), and as the head coach at Chico Country Day Junior High (2009-10). During the summer of 2010, Waniewski also worked as an assistant coach at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, Calif., before ascending to the NAIA ranks at Concordia and NCAA DI level at Southern Miss.
In addition, Waniewski has worked extensively at summer camps at UCLA (2005-10), Stanford (2005-10), and Chico State (2005-09).
Waniewski is single and resides in Fort Collins, Colo.
