Terra Haute, Ind- Split into two races, Colorado State ran in the top division at Pre-Nationals Saturday, placing 47th overall.

Senior Kaitlin Hanenburg led the team with a time of 21 minutes, 57.11 seconds, finishing in 180th place individually. Closely behind her was Marina Roberts (22:07.95; 210th), followed by Chloe Phillips (22:16.76, 235th) and Sanne Holland (22:19.72; 243rd). Wrapping up the race for the Rams was Alex Hess (22:25.1, 252nd), Karlee Schwartzkopf (22:30.62, 261st) and Whitney Henderson (22:38.38, 277th).

"It was a real tough meet for us, it was very competitive," Coach Art Siemers commented. "We were in the blue division with the right teams... we were in the faster of the two."

Boise State runner Emma Bates claimed the number one spot with a time of 20:09.09. Although this race did not qualify the women's team for nationals, they still have a chance with a strong performance at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Nov. 1.

"We're just going to keep working hard in order to get it all to come together for the next conference meet," Coach Siemers remarked.

The men's team stayed in Fort Collins to train for the upcoming conference meet on Nov. 1.
