USTFCCCA National Poll
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Colorado State’s success at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday moved the men’s team one spot up in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I National Cross Country Coaches’ Poll. The Rams enter Week 4 of the 2013 season ranked No. 15.
CSU, the top ranked team in the Mountain West, edged out its closest competition in No. 25 New Mexico last week, taking fifth overall, while the Lobos finished sixth. The Rams proved their worth among stiff competition. The top seven finishers at the meet all appear in the national poll this week, including the winner, Columbia, which jumped from No. 30 to No. 8.
Individually, it was Alex Muntefering who paced the pack last week. He crossed the line in 20th place with a time of 24:50.4, followed by the rest of his teammates who all finished less than 1 second later. Andrew Goodman took 23rd (24:51.3), Ben Larson placed 35th (25:03.8), Christian Meyer finished 42nd (25:10.3) and Jacob Morgan took 69th (25:27.6).
The ranking is the highest for CSU since 2003, when the team was ranked as high as eighth in the country, a school record.
The men’s and women’s teams are off this weekend, and will travel to Pre-Nationals in Terra Haute, Ind., on Oct. 19.
