High School:Named all-conference for cross country in 2006 and 2007...Second-team all-state in cross country in 2007 and 2008...4x800-meter state champion in 2009.

Personal:Born Jan. 20, 1991, in Freemont Calif...Son of Jill and Steve Balsiger...Has a brother, Adam (17)...Father played football at the University of Wisconsin-Stout...Majoring in mechanical engineering.
