FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State's track and field team will be represented by 23 athletes this weekend, as it competes at the NCAA West Preliminary in Fayetteville, Ark., beginning Thursday.
The Rams secured four top 10 seeds. Trevor Brown owns two of those marks in both the 400- and 110-meter hurdles. The senior was one of just five athletes in the country to run a sub-50 second time (49.85) this season in the 400 hurdles at the Cowpoke Open early this month. The Colorado native also proved his worth amongst the top competition in the nation, running his career-best time in the 110 hurdles (13.64) at the Mt. SAC Relays in April.
The women's throwers hold the other two top 10 seeds for Colorado State. Senior Jessica Sharbono heaved a personal-record throw in the discus at the Mountain West championships less than two weeks ago with a 193 foot, 1 inch toss. Junior Kiah Hicks found her stride at just the right time, throwing a career-best in the hammer also at the MW championships (206-2).
The top 12 individuals and relay teams will advance to the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., June 11-14.
