FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State's track and field team finished competition on Day 1 of the Glenn Morris Multi-Event, at Jack Christiansen Track, Thursday. Josh McMillin and Cate Brus currently sit in third place in the decathlon and heptathlon, respectively.
Brus ended the day with 2,874 points, trailing leader Jenna Mann of Wyoming by 155. The junior cleared a height of five feet, five inches in the high jump.
Aubree Dietrich is currently in fifth place with 2,299 points, followed by Kayla Wein in eighth, with 2,220. Dietrich recorded a throw of 31-0.5 in the shot put. Wein finished the 200-meter dash in 28.09 seconds.
McMillin totaled 3,476 points on Day 1 of the decathlon. Brandon Johnson, an unattached athlete, leads the field with 3,714 points. McMillin posted a throw of 40-6 in the shot put and cleared a height of 6-2.75 in the high jump.
Justin Green sits in fourth in the event with 3,402 points. Green recorded a distance of 21-5 in the long jump and finished the 400-meter dash in 52.64.
"It was kind of a slow start for most of them but they finished strong," said multis coach Tim Cawley. "The last few events went really well. Day 1 was just a nice solid day. Josh and Justin are in good position and it might have been one of Cate's better first days. I'm excited to see how they do tomorrow."
Competition resumes Friday morning at 9: 30 a.m. MST.
