Justin Green sits in fourth in the event with 3,402 points. Green recorded a distance of 21-5 in the long jump and finished the 400-meter dash in 52.64.
"It was kind of a slow start for most of them but they finished strong," said multis coach Tim Cawley. "The last few events went really well. Day 1 was just a nice solid day. Josh and Justin are in good position and it might have been one of Cate's better first days. I'm excited to see how they do tomorrow."
Competition resumes Friday morning at 9: 30 a.m. MST.
