FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Coming off a meet in which it dominated the competition on both the men’s and women’s sides, the CSU track & field team travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend for the Air Force Relays. Colorado State enjoyed plenty of success at its first home meet of the year, entertaining the home crowd at the Fum McGraw Quadrangular with 15 different event victories.
The Rams look to take their success from Jack Christiansen Track in Fort Collins to the Air Force Academy, the site of many of the team’s 2013 indoor meets and a familiar place for CSU athletes.
Freshman Jessica Green, freshman Josh Cogdill and senior Josh McMillin will travel to the Air Force Academy Thursday to participate in the multi-events. The men’s decathlon kicks off with the 100-meter dash at 11 a.m. MT Thursday, while the women’s heptathlon starts at 11:15 a.m. Thursday with the 100-meter hurdles. The multi-events wrap up Friday before the majority of the action ensues Saturday.
Field events begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with the women’s hammer throw and men’s discus throw. Track events begin at 12 p.m. with the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, followed by the same event on the men’s side and then both of the 4x100-meter relays. The men’s and women’s 4x400-meter relays will be held around 4 p.m., rounding out the meet schedule.
The competition field includes athletes from Air Force, Adams State, Colorado, Colorado Mines, CSU-Pueblo, Metropolitan State, Northern Colorado and Wyoming. The meet will held at the Cadet Outdoor Track & Field Complex at the U.S. Air Force Academy and will not be a scored meet.
