FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Kiah Hicks, Trevor Brown and Justin Green, each named to the all-Mountain West team, will head to the NCAA Track and Field Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., to represent Colorado State beginning Friday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Returning from a weekend off after the conference championships, where the three Rams left with big finishes, Hicks, Brown and Green will each compete in one event.
Boasting big victories in the event all season, Hicks set new personal records time and time again in the weight throw. In the 2013 season, Hicks placed second at the Mountain West Conference Championships and moved up to finish first this year. She will go into her first NCAA championship competition ranked eighth with her season best of 70 feet, 1.50 inches.
Green, a junior, can be seen in the heptathlon and will be attending the NCAA Indoor Championships for the first time. He won the event at the conference championships and holds the new Colorado State school record after setting a personal record of 5,575 points at the completion of the seven events.
Head Coach Brian Bedard, a guide for the two competitors, is proud to see them go. “Kiah, Trevor and Justin enjoy competing, and their confidence has really grown over the last two seasons. They are a pleasure to coach and represent CSU very well,” he commented on the upcoming championships.
Brown was added to the list of selected participants after a medical scratch. He has become comfortable at the top in the 60-meter hurdles after winning the conference championships for the past four years. He will start competition ranked 16th and looking to beat his personal record of 7.77 seconds.
The meet will be televised on ESPN3 for both days of competition, streaming live on Friday beginning at 5:55 p.m. MT and on Saturday at 5:50 p.m. On March 22, ESPNU will air a tape delay of the championships starting at 4:30 p.m.
