Track and field recap: Rams finish Day 1 of MW indoor championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., -- Colorado State’s multi-event athletes started quickly Thursday, scoring the Rams’ first points of the MW indoor championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Cate Brus led CSU in the women’s pentathlon, the only women’s competition of the day, placing fourth and earning five team points. Brus took sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.16 seconds), won the high jump (5 feet, 7.25 inches), placed 10th in the shot put (31-1), 11th in the long jump (15-10.5) and third in the 800-meter run (2:33.28).
Amy Medina came in 12th for the Rams. She placed eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.59), tied for fourth in the high jump (5-2.5), took 12th in the shot put (30-2.75), ninth long jump (16-4.25) and 12th in the 800-meter run (2:52.86).
Robert Wasinger paced the Rams in the heptathlon, placing second in the 60-meter dash (7.05), 10th in the long jump (20-1.5), seventh in the shot put (37-7.5) and tied seventh in the high jump (6-1.5).
Josh McMillin came in eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.30), ninth in the long jump (20-3), fourth in the shot put (39-10.5) and tied for seventh in the high jump (6-1.5).
Justin Green took ninth in the 60-meter dash (7.40), sixth in the long jump (20-7.5), 10th in the shot put (33-10) and tied for third in the high jump (6-4).
