Track and field recap: Rams excel at Air Force Invitational
Feb. 10, 2012 By Chris Feller FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Andrew Schall and Kiah Hicks led the Colorado State track and field team at Day 1 of the Air Force Invitational Friday, held at the Cadet Field House. Hicks won the weight throw with a toss of 61 feet, 4.75 inches. Teammate Jessica Sharbono came in right behind in fourth place, with a throw of 53-11. Schall claimed first in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15-7. In the women’s pole vault, Morgan Griffin took third, clearing a height of 11-9.75. Ken Harriman (60-10.5) and Alec Pott (58-6.75) earned second and third-place finishes in the men’s weight throw. Bethany DeLong (19-2.75) finished fourth in the long jump and Emma Waibel placed fourth in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2 minutes, 27.93 seconds. Seth Monson (48.96) qualified for the finals of the 400 meters, after he finished third in the prelims. In the men’s high jump, Mitchel Solomon finished in fifth, clearing a height of 6-8.75.
