Track and field recap: Trio of Rams compete at Air Force Combined Event Meet

Chris Feller COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three Colorado State track and field members competed in the heptathlon Thursday at the Air Force Combined Event meet held in the Cadet Field House. Robert Wasinger leads the trio, currently in eighth place after Day 1 of the two-day event. The sophomore placed second in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 7.07 seconds. He later took 14th in the long jump (20 feet, 9 inches), eighth in the shot put (37-05.75) and tied for 16th in the high jump (6-0.75). He finished the day with 2,756 points. Matt Collins, who sits in 15th place overall with 2,601 points, earned an 11th-place finish in the shot put (36-01.25). He also finished 13th in the long jump (20-09.25), tied for 19th in the high jump (5-10.75), and took 11th in the 60-meter dash (7.33). Freshman Justin Green ended the day in 17th place with 2,580 points. He placed 11th in the long jump (20-10.75) and tied for eighth in the high jump (6-02.75). Green also claimed two 19th-place finishes in the shot put (33-03.75) and 60-meter dash. New Mexico’s Richard York leads the field with 2,968 points. Competition resumes Friday morning at 10:30 am M.S.T.
