FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State track & field team travels to Colorado Springs on Thursday for the 23rd Air Force Invitational at the Cadet Field House in Colorado Springs, Colo., home of the Air Force Falcons. The combined events portion of the meet will be held on Thursday, while the rest of the events will occur on Friday and Saturday.
Ram hurdlers are coming off two strong performances at the Air Force All Comers Meet and Potts Indoor Invitational and will look to continue their successes as they return to the Cadet Field House. Men’s hurdler Kelby Dias is coming off of a win in the 60 meter hurdles at the Potts Invitational, while teammate Trevor Brown won the same event when the Rams last competed in the Cadet Field House for the Air Force All Comers Meet. Women’s hurdlers Stephanie Gerber and Lindsey Keller also look to continue their early season successes in the 60 meter hurdles; Keller took first place at the All Comers Meet, while Gerber took second at the Potts Invitational in Boulder.
The Colorado State throwers will also be athletes to watch at the Air Force Invitational. After taking four of the five top spots in the men’s shot put and three of the top four places in the women’s weight throw at last week’s Potts Invitational, the solid core of Colorado State throwers will aim to continue what has been true domination of the throwing events so far this indoor season. Freshman thrower Tyler Schultz and sophomore thrower Kiah Hicks will lead the men’s and women’s throwers, respectively, into action this weekend.
The hurdles and throws events are only a few of the events in which Colorado State is likely to earn high finishes. Ryan Wasilawski
, Trey Richardson
and the rest of the jumpers will be very competitive in the long jump and triple jump after successful finishes at the Potts Invitational.
The Air Force Indoor Combined Events Meet will take place on Thursday, featuring the women’s pentathlon and men’s heptathlon. The rest of the action in the 23rd Air Force Invitational begins Friday at 12:30 p.m. MT with the men’s weight throw, and the meet wraps up on Saturday.
