ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Colorado State’s track and field team continued to impress on Day 2 of the Potts Indoor Invitational in Boulder, Colo. and the Cherry and Silver Invite at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Alex Balsiger paced the Rams in Albuquerque winning the mile run, with a time of 4:12.80 and taking second in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:53.63.
“Alex winning the mile and taking second in the 800 meters is a huge highlight for us,” said Head Coach Brian Bedard.
Nicole Peters' second-place effort in the 3,000-meter run (9:48.23) also impressed Bedard.
“Nicole Peters' 3K was huge. Second place, that’s got to be a top time in the conference right now.”
Hannah Pensack-Rinehart (10:01.55) and Kendra Gerk (10:29.53) came in right behind Peters in fourth and seventh, respectively.
Kaitlin Hanenburg (4:54.77) took third in the women’s mile run followed by Holly Keeper (5:09.71) who took sixth.
earned a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.75.
Carson Rowley (51 feet, 10.5 inches) placed sixth in the shot put followed by Ken Harriman (51-3.5) in seventh, Alec Pott (51-0.25) in eighth and Jake Schneeberger (48-02.75) in ninth.
In the women’s shot put Elizabeth Johnson (44-06.25) and Kiah Hicks (44-06) took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Seven Rams earned first-place finishes at the Potts Indoor Invitational.
Meghan Finney (1:36.6) won the 600-yard run, while Kat Robinson (5:47.37) came out victorious in the mile run.
Sabrina Jones (5-05) took first in the high jump and Jenna Silwinski (45-09) placed first in the shot put.
Robert Wasinger (8.36) won the 60-meter hurdles and Kyle Baker placed first in the triple jump (43-08.5)
Colorado State returns to action Jan. 26-28 with the Air Force heptathlon and team meet.
