EUGENE, Ore. – Three of Colorado State’s track & field team members competed at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships over the weekend at Hayward Field. The Rams’ soon-to-be sophomores performed well amongst their young counterparts.

Aaliyah Pete took second in the shot put on Saturday, qualifying her for the IAAF World Junior Championships later this month. She threw 53 feet, 7 inches on her third attempt. She also competed in the discus, throwing 162-9 on her final toss to squeeze into the top five.

“Aaliyah showed great composure during the meet,” commented Head Coach Brian Bedard. “She competes like a veteran thrower. She listens to what I say and makes changes during the competition if needed. She's really fun to coach.”

Collin Scheer finished fifth in the high jump, clearing the bar set at 6-8.75.   Marcus Harris Jr. ran in the 100-meter dash, placing seventh in his heat and 13th overall. He crossed the finish line in 10.70 seconds.

The 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships will take place July 22-27 back at Hayward Field.
