AUSTIN, Texas - Colorado State saw another athlete earn a trip to the NCAA championships Saturday at Myers Stadium. Trevor Brown qualified in the 110-meter hurdles.
The junior clocked a time of 13.89 seconds; .05 better than his first round time of 13.94 on Friday. He took third in his heat and ninth overall.
Brown will travel to Hayward Field on June 5-8 with teammates Jessica Sharbono in the discus and Ashley Reid in the high jump.
"The staff is excited to qualify three Rams to the NCAA finals in Eugene, Ore.," commented Head Coach Brian Bedard. "We were hoping to get more qualifiers through, but it was a really tough challenge this year. The NCAA west meet is difficult enough, but the weather made it even more challenging. Multiple delays due to lightning yesterday created some difficult mental stress for the competitors. We were at the track last night until after midnight and started at 10 a.m. in the rain this morning."
Ken Harriman was forced to compete in the hammer one day late because of the weather delays. He wasn't able to complete a legal throw, fouling his three attempts.
"It was a mental and physical test for everyone involved," said Bedard.
Ashley Reid improved on her 46-seed in the triple jump, placing 34th overall with a distance of 39-8.75. Kiah Hicks wrapped up her weekend in the shot put, taking 43rd (46-11.5).
