COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three athletes from Colorado State wrapped up the first day of action in the combined-event portion of the Air Force Relays Thursday. Josh McMillin is currently second, followed by Josh Cogdill in third, while Jessica Green sits in eighth place on the women’s side.

“It was a solid Day 1,” commented multi-events coach Tim Cawley. “They competed hard and we got some good work done.

At 3,432 points, McMillin is 250 behind leader Kyle Sullivan, who is competing as an unattached athlete this weekend. Freshman Cogdill is close behind him after five events with 3,339 points.

McMillin finished in the top three in each of the first five events. The senior’s best finishes were second-place in the long jump, where he leaped 21 feet, 1.50 inches in his final attempt, and the 400 meters, where he crossed the line at 53.66 seconds, also placing second.

Cogdill excelled in the high jump, clearing a height of 6-3.5 for second place. He also finished third in the long jump (20-11.75) and the 400 meters (53.69).

Green was the lone Ram to compete in the women’s heptathlon. After four events, she has racked up 2,537 points. Just 528 points separate the top eight athletes. Green’s best event was a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters. She clocked a time of 15.41.

The final decathlon and heptathlon events will begin at 11 a.m. Friday with the men’s 110-hurdles and the women’s long jump.
