“We got a lot of good work done out there over the two days,” commented multi-events coach Tim Cawley. “They competed hard.”
Grandbouche tallied a total score of 5,512 and teammate Josh Cogdill came in second with 5,183 points. Grandbouche was the only athlete in the field to register points in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13 feet, 1.5 inches. The California native also won the javelin throw, with a toss of 165-0.
Cogdill posted the best throw in the discus, reaching 119-6.
On the women’s side Green totaled 4,525 points, with a personal record in the 200-meter dash and the long jump. Her time in the 200 meters, 27.00 seconds, was good for third place, while she traveled 17-7.5 in the long jump, also finishing third in the event.
Monica Franco registered a career-best 4,133 points, taking fifth in the heptathlon. She scored 447 points in the javelin, placing second, with a throw of 93-3.
The Rams’ throwers also got the outdoor season off to a great start in Boulder at the Jerry Quiller Classic in the hammer and javelin. Results from those two events, as well as the rest of the meet will be posted in tomorrow’s recap.
Colorado State will wrap up competition at Potts Field Saturday. Action resumes at 11 a.m. MT with the women’s pole vault and steeplechase.
