Volunteer Assistant Coach

First Year

Josanne Lucas enters her first year as a volunteer assistant coach helping with the sprints, hurdles and relays at Colorado State University.

Lucas attended Auburn University and was a 6 time All-American during her four-year tenure there. At the 2006 NCAA DI Outdoor Championships, she earned a team title and was runner-up in the 400mH. She was the 2006 SEC Outdoor Champion in the 100mH in 12.98 and placed second in the 400mH. She currently holds the school's freshman record in the 400mH with a time of 57.81.

Lucas has represented her native country of Trinidad & Tobago at the 2005 World Championship in Helsinki, 2008 Beijing Olympic games, and the 2009 World Championship in Berlin. It was in 2009 where she became the first female from Trinidad & Tobago to win a medal at a World Championship, obtaining bronze in the 400mH with a national record of 53.20.

Other highlights include, second place in the 400mH at the 2003 Pan Am Junior Championship in Barbados. In 2006 she won the 400mH at the NACAC Under 23 Championship, was runner up in the 100mH in Santo Domingo. At the 2006 CAC Games in Cartagena, Columbia, she placed second in the 400mH and in 2008 she was victorious in the 400mH at the CAC Championships in Cali, Columbia.

Personal: Born May 14, 1984 in Tobago to Juliet and Durly Lucas.Graduated from Auburn University in Biomedical Sciences.
