FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State Head Track and Field Coach Brian Bedard announced the signing of Missy Faubus for the 2007-08 season. Faubus joins the Rams after spending a year at Cal and redshirting last year.
"Missy will make a huge impact on our young women's throws crew," Bedard said. "Missy is an intense competitor who will bring experience and leadership to this group. She should come in and challenge for a top spot in the Mountain Wes Conference shot and discus along with scoring in the indoor weight throw. "
As a freshman, Faubus was a USATF Junior All-American and won the bronze medal at the Pan-Am Junior Games in the discus event. Her team-leading shot put record of 53-00.75 (16.17m) was set at the Big Meet. Faubus had a team-high discus mark of 171-06 (51.58m), good for seventh on Cal's all-time list, set at the U.S. Junior Nationals. She also ranked fifth on the team with a hammer mark of 159-02 (48.51m).
Out of Centennial High School in Bakersfield, Calif., Faubus was a high school All-American in the shot and hammer. She was the junior national champion and California state champion in the discus. She finished eighth in the discus at the World Junior Championships in 2004. Faubus holds personal bests of 170-1 in the discus and 49-7.25 in the shot.
