Trio Throws At USA Championship

At Sacramento State University, the 2003 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships got underway on Thursday. In the menís discus, a trio of either current of former Colorado State student-athletes were in competition.

Former NCAA champion, Casey Malone -- who graduated from Colorado State in 2001 -- finished in ninth place with a throw of 195-2. Senior Brian Trainor placed 11th with a toss of 190-7 and senior Drew Loftin placed 16th with a throw of 184-5. Carl Brown won the competition with a throw of 218-8, winning by over 12 feet.

Former NCAA champion Bryan Berryhill will compete in the 1500 meters and Loftin will throw the hammer later in the week.
