Track & field recap: CSU wraps up competition at NCAA West regional

AUSTIN, Texas - Colorado State saw its final five athletes compete Saturday at the NCAA West regional. The Rams took part in four field events and one running event.

Cameron Carter placed 34th in the discus throw with distance of 49.06 meters. Ryan Billups finished 35th in the triple jump. His farthest jump was 14.92 meters.

In the only running event for the Rams of the day Daniel Wallis competed in the 5,000-meter run. He crossed the finish line at 15 minutes, 4.37 seconds, good for 37th place.

Leah Elmshauser finished 26th in the hammer throw with a distance of 55.00 meters. Sonni Russell tied for 28th in the high jump. She cleared a height of 1.69 meters.

CSU will now look toward the NCAA championships in Eugene, Ore. Events will take place June 9-12. Senior Kristen Hemphill will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the fifth seed.
