2009 (Junior Indoor/Sophomore Outdoor): Tyson scored twice during the indoor season. At the Air Force Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 13), he took third place in the shot put (16.88m). He recorded a first-place finish in the shot put (16.18m) at the Wyoming Robert Shine Invitational (Feb. 20). He scored in the shot put with a third-place finish (16.05) at the MWC championships (Feb. 26). Tyson finished his season at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet where he recorded his best toss in the shot put (17.61m).

2008 (Sophomore Indoor/Freshman Outdoor): Tyson posted a score during the indoor season with a fifth-place finish (15.65m) in the shot put at the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 28). During the outdoor season, he was a consistent scorer for the Rams. At the Jack Christiansen Invitational (April 25), he finished second in the shot put (15.24m) and sixth in the discus throw (46.38m). He finished third in the shot put (15.73m) at the Front Range Championships (May 3). Finally, at the MWC outdoor championships (May 14) he scored with a seventh-place finish in the hammer throw (47.4m) and an eighth-place finish in the shot put (15.12m).

2007 (Freshman Indoor): Tyson scored during the indoor season with an eighth-place finish in the shot put (15.25m) at the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 22) before redshirting the outdoor season to work on his technique.

High School: Tyson was a two-time letterwinner in both track and football while attending Fruita Monument High School in Fruita, Colo., where he holds the records in the shot put (16.42m) and the discus throw (50.29m), both set in 2006.

Personal: Tyson was born Feb. 15, 1988, to Jared and Janet Williams in Burley, Idaho. He has an older brother, Chris. During the summer of 2008, he married the former Desirae Thygerson. He is majoring in accounting.
