2007: Jason continued a strong tradition of outstanding discus throwers by finishing eighth in the men's discus finals at the NCAA championships, earning All-American honors. He threw a personal record of 193-2 in the prelim rounds. Schutz also qualified for the USA Championships in the men's discus where he placed 12th. He placed second at the NCAA midwest regional championships in the discus. At the Mountain West Conference meet he earned all-conference honors, placing third in the discus. Schutz was also an all-conference indoor weight thrower for the Rams, placing third. Currently ranked No. 5 on Colorado State's all-time list in the discus and eigth on the all-time list in the hammer. Jason was also an all-MWC academic award winner for the Rams in 2007.

2006: Finished ninth at the NCAA regional meet in the discus after earning all-conference honors in both the discus and hammer with third place in both at the Mountain West Conference championship. At the indoor conference championship, he finished fourth in the weight throw.

2005: Finished ninth in the discus at the NCAA regional, second among freshmen. At the MWC championship, he placed seventh in the hammer with a career-best mark and eighth in the discus. Won the discus at the Don Kirby Invitational with a career-best mark and had three other top five finishes during the season. Placed eighth in the weight throw at the Mountain West meet.
