2008 (Freshman): The highlights of Ryan's freshman year included a win (4.15m) at the Tom Benich Classic (April 5) and a second-place finish (4.35m) at the Colorado Invitational (April 12). He was named academic all-conference at the end of the year.

High School: Ryan was a three-time letterwinner while attending Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colo.

Personal: Ryan was born Oct. 20, 1988, to Grant and Deb Pahlau. He has a brother, Dan, and a sister, Abby. His father was also a track athlete at CSU. He is majoring in health and exercise science.
