2009 (Freshman): At the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 26), John had a 15th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (16:21.69) and a 21st-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (9:20.78). During the outdoor season, John's best time in the 10,000-meter run (35:21.36) came at the MWC championships (May 13) as he finished 13th.

High School: John lettered in both cross country and track while attending Battle Mountain High School in Minturn, Colo. He was named all-league in cross country and track and was named all-state in cross country and in the 4x800-meters, mile and two mile in track. He was the cross country regional champion three times and Colorado state champion twice. He holds several school records, including the 4x400-meters (3:28) and 4x800-meters (7:52). At the Arcadia Invite, he ran 9:16.88 for the 3,200-meters. He was cross country team captain in 2006 and 2007.

Personal: John was born July 6, 1990, to Bill O'Neill. He has a sister, Allison. He is majoring in business and Spanish.
