2007: Redshirted the outdoor season. Finished 11th at the NCAA championship in the heptathlon. Scored a personal best of 5,569 en route to winning the MWC championship. He also won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.04 and was fourth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. After scoring 28 points for the team he won the High Point award and the Most Outstanding Performance award for the championships.

2006: At the NCAA championship, finished 13th in the decathlon. Won the High Point award at the Mountain West outdoor championship after winning the long jump and decathlon and placing third in the triple jump. He was the first decathlete at Colorado State to advance to the NCAA championship since 1982. During the indoor season, broke the school heptathlon record with 5,319 points at the Mountain West championship, placing third to earn all-conference honors. Competed at the NCAA regionals in the long jump.

2005: Finished second at the Cal Decathlon with a then-career-best 6,749 points. Earned all-conference honors during the indoor season with a second-place finish in the heptathlon and also finished sixth in the 60 hurdles and seventh in the triple jump. Broke the school record in the heptathlon with his total of 5,077.

2004: Finished ninth at the MWC championship in both the outdoor decathlon and indoor heptathlon and was also eighth in the triple jump during the indoor season. His heptathlon total was a freshman CSU record.
