2006: Faubus competed her freshman year at the University of California. She was a USATF Junior All-American and won the bronze medal at the Pan-Am Junior Games in the discus event. Her team-leading shot put record of 53-00.75 (16.17m) was set at the Pac-Ten meet. Faubus had a team-high discus mark of 171-06 (51.58m), good for seventh on Cal's all-time list, set at the U.S. Junior Nationals. She also ranked fifth on the team in the hammer, with a mark of 159-02 (48.51m).

Out of Centennial High School in Bakersfield, Calif., Faubus was a high school All-American in the shot and hammer. She was the junior national champion and California state champion in the discus. She finished eighth in the discus at the World Junior Championships in 2004. Faubus holds personal bests of 171-6 in the discus and 53-.75 in the shot in high school.
