Pole Vault



2007-09 (University of Kansas): While at Kansas, Kirk was named all-conference for the 2008 and 2009 indoor and outdoor seasons. He was also a regional qualifier all three years in the pole vault. In 2009, he tied his personal best in the pole vault finishing second at the Kansas Relays (April 15) with a throw of 5.05m.

High School: Kirk lettered in track and golf while attending Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, Colo. He was a state champion in 2005 and 2006 and was part of three state championship teams in 2003, 2004 and 2005. He was captain of the track team in 2005 and 2006.

Personal: Kirk was born Jan. 6, 1988, to Susan and Mark Cooper in Aurora, Colo. He is a third-generation collegiate athlete as his grandfather was a track athlete at the University of Nebraska and his father was also a track athlete at Colorado State University. He has two younger brothers, Chase and Drew. He is majoring in sociology.
