2009 (Freshman): Sophia scored once during her first indoor season in the pentathlon (3,253) at the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 26). She also had a fifth-place finish in the pentathlon (3,111)at the Potts Invite (Jan. 23). She had a very impressive first outdoor season, scoring four times beginning with a second-place finish in the javelin (29.83m) at the Wyoming Gem City Duals (April 18). She scored twice at the Front Range Invitational (May 2) with a fifth-place finish in the javelin (27.59m) and a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (15.49). She capped the season with a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon (4,367) at the MWC championships.

High School: Sophia earned varsity letters in three sports while attending Marietta Senior High School in Marietta, Ohio. During her time there, she was named all-league in both soccer and track, and was named MVP and captain of her track team in 2008. In 2006-07 she was part of the basketball state champions, and in 2008 she was the 100- and 300-meter hurdles champion in the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League. She holds multiple school records, including 100- and 300-meter hurdles, shot put, long jump and the sprint medley.

Personal: Sophia was born July 10, 1989, to Gregory and Jane Wagner. She has two brothers, Cody and Clint. Her father ran track at Marshall University, and her brother Cody played football at the University of Dayton. She is majoring in zoology.
