2011 (Senior): Granted a medical hardship waiver from the injury he suffered in the spring 2010 indoor track and field season.

2010 (Senior): Ran a Rams' indoor season-best time of 1:56.06 in the 800 meters placing fifth at the adidas Classic (Jan. 23)... Participated in the 400 meters in his first meet of the outdoor season placing fourth with a time of 50.56 seconds, fourth best time on the Rams' squad this season (March 28)... Finished seventh (50.92) in the 400 at the Tom Benich Classic, his second-best time of the season (April 3)... Ran a Rams' season-best 1:50.95 in the 800 at the Oregon Relays, placing 12th (May 1)... Earned first place (1:52.55) in the 800 meters at the Fum McGraw Open (May 8)... After qualifying for the finals, ran the 800 in 1:51.00, good for eighth place at the MWC championships (May 15)... Awarded MWC academic all-conference.

2009 (Junior): Friese scored in the 800-meter run with a first-place finish (1:53.25) at the Air Force Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 13). At the MWC indoor championships, he also claimed first place in the 800-meter run (1:51.17). He had a very successful outdoor season. He scored in the 800-meter run with a first-place finish (1:50.34) at the Wyoming Gem City Duals (April 18). At the Front Range Invitational (May 2), he took first place in the 800-meters (1:50.97). He won the 800-meters (1:51.24) and ran the final leg on the third-place 4x400-meter relay team at the MWC championships (May 13). Ryan finished his season running the 800-meters at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet.

2008 (Sophomore):
Ryan had a very successful sophomore year. During the indoor season, he scored in the 800-meters with a fourth-place finish (1:56.19) at the Air Force Invitational (Feb. 1) and with a third-place finish (1:53.53) at the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 28). He was named all-MWC in both the 800-meters and 4x400-meter relay. During the outdoor season, he never finished lower than third place in the 800-meters and counted four wins and three scores among his results. His scores included a first-place finish (1:52.07) at the Jack Christiansen Invitational (April 25), first place (1:50.38) at the Front Range Championships (May 3) and a second-place finish (1:49.70) at the MWC outdoor championships (May 14), where he established a personal best. At the end of the season he was an MWC Scholar-Athlete and earned the 2008 Richard and Bernice Maycumber Scholarship Endowment.

2007 (Freshman): During the indoor season, Ryan scored with an eighth-place finish (13.95m) in the triple jump at the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 22). His outdoor season counted three scores in the triple jump and one in the long jump. He finished second (13.87m) in the triple jump at the Rob Upton Invitational (March 24). At the Jack Christiansen Invitational (April 21), he finished in second (14.15m) in the triple jump and eighth (6.23m) in the long jump. Finally, at the MWC outdoor championships (May 9), he finished in eighth place (13.66m) in the triple jump.

High School:
Ryan lettered all four years in track while attending Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. He earned all-state honors in the 400-meters and the triple jump. He also earned All-America honors in the 4x400-meter relay.

Personal: Ryan was born May 31, 1988, to Kurt and Lydia Friese. He has an older sister, Natasha Henderson. He is majoring in computer engineering.
