2009(Junior): Leah started her season at the Wyoming Power Meet (Dec. 6), where she recorded her best weight throw of the season (16.09m). Her outdoor season-best hammer throw came at the Arizona State Invitational (March 27) as she finished eighth with a toss of 55.04m, qualifying for the regional meet. She had a second-place finish in the hammer throw (54.76m) at the Wyoming Gem City Duals (April 18). Leah finished sixth in the hammer throw (54.96m) at the MWC championships. Leah ended her season competing in the hammer throw at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet.
2008 (Sophomore): During the indoor season, Leah scored twice in the weight throw, finishing in eighth place (15.98m) at the Air Force Invitational (Feb. 1) and again in eighth (16.26m) at the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 28). During the outdoor season, she scored twice in the hammer throw. At the Front Range Championships (May 3) she finished in fourth place (50.28m), and at the MWC outdoor championships (May 14), she finished in sixth place (50.28m).
2007: Leah redshirted both the indoor and outdoor seasons to work on her technique. 2006 (Freshman): Leah competed at Concordia University in Seward, Neb., where she finished 14th in the weight throw (12.99m) at the GPAC indoor championships (Feb. 25).
High School: Leah was a varsity letterwinner in three sports while attending Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colo. She was named second-team all-Continental Conference in basketball and offensive team MVP.
Personal: Leah was born Dec. 25, 1986, to John and Pat Elmshauser. She has a sister, Kelsey. Her father played football and ran track while at Concordia University. She is majoring in health and exercise science.
