Terry DeZeeuw
Associate Athletic Director for Sport Performance
Terry.Dezeeuw@colostate.edu | 970/491-6756

DeZeeuw, who owns experience in four top Division I athletic training rooms, oversees the sports medicine program for all 16 varsity sports at CSU, as well as the strength and conditioning programs for the Rams' olympic sports programs, in an effort to maintain the health and well-being of every Rams student-athlete.

He works closely with the sport of football and supervises an athletic-training staff of five full-time assistants, and three graduate assistants, and four strength and conditioning coaches.

DeZeeuw (pronounced duh-ZAY-oh) came to Colorado State from Purdue University, where he spent eight years (1998-2006) as an assistant athletic trainer. With the Boilermakers, he worked primarily with football while supervising the athletic training needs of tennis, wrestling, and swimming and diving.

In addition to his hands-on athletic training duties with the Big Ten school, DeZeeuw also served as a clinical instructor for Purdue's undergraduate athletic training program, as well as a classroom instructor for the therapeutic exercise course within the athletic training curriculum.

While at Ohio State from 1996-98 as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, DeZeeuw supported the Buckeyes' fulltime certified athletic trainers with daily football operations, working with some of the nation's top football players. He also worked as Ohio State's supervising trainer for men's and women's gymnastics and women's crew, while assisting with wrestling, men's and women's swimming and diving, synchronized swimming, and fencing.

In four years as a student athletic trainer at the University of Iowa, he worked primarily with football but also gained clinical experience with men's basketball, women's basketball, cross country, field hockey, gymnastics, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestiling.

A 1996 graduate of the University of Iowa, DeZeeuw received his bachelor's degree in exercise science with an emphasis in athletic training. He then earned a master's in allied medical professions with an emphasis in health care management from Ohio State in 1998.

He is a certified athletic trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.

A native of Hawarden, Iowa, DeZeeuw graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden.

He and his wife, Elaine, reside in Fort Collins with their two children, Nadia and Elliot.
