For student-athletes at Colorado State University seeking to compete athletically at the highest level nationally, prescribed and supervised strength and conditioning is vital to attaining that goal.

Greg Scanlan is in his 10th year as the school's strength and conditioning coach, and oversees a staff charged with working with Colorado State's nearly 400 student-athletes on a daily basis.

A former standout college football player and award-winning scholar-athlete, Scanlan works diligently on a daily basis with CSU's student-athletes on improving strength and conditioning.

He and his staff coordinate and conduct workouts for each of the program's 16 sport teams. They are actively involved throughout each workout to assist student-athletes in maximizing effort and results.

In addition, Scanlan and his staff oversee stretching and flexibility exercise to prevent or rehabilitate injuries. They also conduct cardiovascular conditioning sessions with student-athletes as part of the overall physical development.

Scanlan and the staff develop sport-specific training regimens for each of CSU's sport programs.

In 2009, Scanlan and the Rams opened a new state-of-the-art facility, part of a $20 million facilities initiative. The new facilities further underscore CSU's university-wide commitment to providing an environment for all student-athletes to succeed at the highest level possible.

As a player at Wyoming (1990-93) Scanlan was a team captain, strength and conditioning Athlete of the Year, and honorable mention all-conference in 1993.
