Danny Mattie begins his second season as assistant director of media relations, his sixth overall in the Colorado State athletic department. He began work as a full-time employee on Aug. 26, 2006.
Mattie, 24, serves as the primary publicist for CSU's men's and women's golf, women's basketball and softball programs. He also is the secondary contact for football, and in the fall, heads the design and day-to-day maintenance of CSURams.com, the university's official athletic Web site.
Last season, Mattie (pronounced muh-TAY) also oversaw PR efforts for swimming and diving. And during the staff's recent transition during the 2007 calendar year, Mattie worked with every sport. He also served as project coordinator for the 2007 football and volleyball media guides.
Before earning his promotion to assistant director, Mattie served as an undergraduate student assistant all four years during college at Colorado State. During his senior year, he served as the top contact for women's basketball, traveling with the team.
A native of Trinidad, Colo, Mattie has worked as a media relations intern and statistician for USA Basketball in Colorado Springs, Colo., each of the last five summers.
Mattie graduated from Colorado State in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in technical journalism. He is single and lives in Ft. Collins.
