FORT COLLINS, Colo. - CSU athletics will be contributing to the 21st annual Cans Around the Oval Campus-wide food drive by collecting cans at the UNLV football game and Arizona volleyball match. Both home events are Saturday, with football beginning at 12 p.m. and volleyball at 7 p.m.
In an effort to raise food donations, CSU will be providing a collection spot at each gate of Hughes Stadium as well as under the Ram Club pavilion in Ram Town. Individuals can bring cans and deliver them as they enter the stadium as early as 90 minutes prior to kickoff, or they can drop them off in Ram Town beginning at 9 a.m. No cans will be permitted inside the stadium.
In addition, fans attending the volleyball match are able to donate on the north concourse of Moby Arena.
For every four cans donated at either football or volleyball events, that individual will in return receive a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for the Arizona volleyball match.
Cans Around the Oval is the largest single-day food drive in Northern Colorado. Last year, more than 127,000 pounds of food was raised for the Food Bank for Larimer County.
This year's Cans Around the Oval will take place Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., when all the donated food is collected. During the day, the canned food is weighed and arranged to line the Oval, providing a visual representation of the invaluable generosity of the communities involved.
