Ram Alumni Athletes Association Lounge Grand Opening Huge Success
Sept. 26, 2011
The Grand Opening of the renovated Ram Alumni Athletes Association (RAAA) Lounge at Hughes Stadium was opened to all RAM former athletes and friends during the September 10 football game. Over 400 RAM former athletes and fans visited the Lounge before, during, and after the game. Visitors included former CSU baseball players who organized a reunion for the weekend of the grand opening.
During halftime, the CSU Director of Athletics, Paul Kowalczyk, welcomed our alumni athletes to the lounge. Volleyball Coach Tom Hilbert and RAAA President Ed Frease also welcomed the alumni athletes. Also attending were Dr. Stephanie Clemons and four of her students, from CSU’s Department of Design and Merchandising, who volunteered to develop the initial set of plans for the lounge renovation. A member of the 2010-11 CSU swim team, Emily Molzahn, was on the student design team.
Beginning with the next football game, the lounge will be available only to RAAA members. Admittance gives members an opportunity to reconnect with former team mates, coaches, and friends and together, celebrate RAM pride. New television monitors throughout the lounge keep fans up to date with live action of football games around the country, including the ongoing CSU game. Refreshments are served at each game and new tables and chairs make visiting much more comfortable than in the past. Soon, RAAA hopes to make it possible for members visiting the lounge to view digital images of former teams, athletes and themselves on TV monitors.
The RAAA supports current student-athletes both academically and athletically, reunites former teammates of all sports and eras, and honors student athletes who have achieved a standard of excellence that represents Colorado State University at its highest level.
Visit the Ram Alumni Athletes Association page on CSURams.com to learn more about the RAAA. We would love to see all alumni athletes visit the lounge before and during our home football games and urge all non-member alumni athletes to join RAAA now.
