Today marks a unique and special moment for Colorado State University as the stadium project hits substantial completion. The "baton" is now passed from our construction partners to the University, and we begin our process to ready the stadium for use. Remarkable, amazing, fantastic, exuberant, inspiring, backflips and cartwheels!
Substantial completion means the building is now certified for occupancy. The Athletics Department receives the keys and will begin the move-in process. The general contractor and subcontractors will continue to be on-site through August 10 doing finish and punch-list work, but we are into a new and exciting phase of this two-year journey.
This is a significant milestone that provides another opportunity to report that the project is on-time and on-budget! We thank our construction partners Mortenson, ICON and Populous for their tremendous work and expertise.
The support of our University President Dr. Tony Frank and the CSU System Board of Governors must be recognized as the driving force that has turned this dream into a reality. The generous donors, partners and season ticket holders who have invested in this project and in our football program continue to show their passion for this great university by supporting such a transformational project, and we are grateful for them.
What they and all fans will experience when they set foot inside the on-campus stadium will be like nothing they've ever experienced at Colorado State. In addition to the first-class football training facilities built into the stadium, we are excited for our great fans to experience the amenities that set this stadium apart--the large HD videoboard, distributed sound system, wide 270-degree concourse with open views to the field, variety of concessions offerings, enhanced WiFi and DAS systems for connectivity, to name just a few.
Special thanks to partners New Belgium Brewing and The Orthopedic & Spine Center of the Rockies for naming and developing two gathering spaces unique in all of intercollegiate athletics. Memberships to the New Belgium Porch in the north end zone and the OCR Field Club located behind the Rams bench--both of which are already sold out for the inaugural season--will allow Rams fans to experience game days like never before.
A big part of that fan experience involves the community and the way fans build their game day plans, including travel to and from the game. We are grateful for the fantastic collaboration that has taken place between Athletics, the campus community and our terrific community partners in Fort Collins who are thoughtfully working with us on parking, traffic management, public transportation and bike traffic to ensure an enjoyable and safe fan experience for everyone on game day.
We continue to see strong momentum in season ticket sales, following a tremendously successful sale of all premium seating--suites, loge boxes and indoor and outdoor club seats--by last October, nearly a year before the first kickoff.
Head coach Mike Bobo, his coaching staff and his team are working extremely hard in their offseason training to prepare for a rigorous non-conference schedule that will prepare them well for the Mountain West slate.
The football program will begin the process of moving into its new offices and training facilities, a process that will stretch over the next few weeks. The team will be fully operating in those spaces after the Fourth of July holiday.
Work will continue on the east side of the stadium in preparation for the CSU Alumni Association to move into its new home later this summer, while classroom spaces and the Collaborative for Student Achievement move closer to completion.
We are excited to continue planning for the Aug. 5 Fan Fest event when the football team will hold an open practice, season ticket holders will pick up their tickets and sit in their seats for the first time, and the public will have an opportunity to visit the stadium. This event will coincide with CSU's annual Community Open House and Ice Cream Social, making this day even more of a special celebration of Colorado State University's place in our community, and a wonderful opportunity to connect our community with the campus in new and unique ways. More information about the Aug. 5 Fan Fest will come within the next month.
Public tours of the stadium will begin to be offered through the Alumni Center beginning mid-August. The year-round activity in the multi-purpose on-campus stadium includes the many events that already have been scheduled in the special event spaces throughout the building. We are less than a month away from the first event--a wedding scheduled for July 3!
Today is a special day to celebrate what has been accomplished and express great gratitude for those who have made it possible--a day we have been pointing to for many months. The inaugural season is almost here, and we thank those who already have made the choice to join us for this historic season. Please help us to grow our Ram family by sharing this message and inviting them to join us as we bring Rams Football back to campus for the first time in nearly 50 years!
