INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Colorado State women’s tennis program and the men’s cross country team were recognized Friday by the NCAA when it released its list of teams for the Academic Progress Rating (APR) Public Recognition Awards, which highlight programs that have posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent for their respective sports.
This year’s award recognized teams for their APR performance in 2012-13. Both programs earned perfect APR scores of 1000 in 12-13. In addition, the multi-year APR (2009-10 – 2012-13) is also 1000, meaning neither team lost an eligibility point among its scholarship athletes in this time. This is the first APR honor for the women’s tennis program and men’s cross country team since it began in 2004-05.
In addition to their success in the class, the men’s cross country team took their success to new heights under second-year Head Coach Art Siemers. The men’s team had its best season in 10 years, finishing No. 26 in the USTFCCCA National Poll, and they were honored with five all-conference awards.
The tennis program competed tough throughout the year, but ultimately finished with a 3-14 record. The Rams earned a pair of victories during a spring break road trip through California, defeating Vanguard and Cal State Los Angeles.
