COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Thirty-six Colorado State student-athletes earned recognition from the Mountain West Conference for their work in the classroom during the fall 2012 seasons. The Fall 2012 Mountain West Academic All-Conference honorees, which were announced by the league on Thursday, are represented by 409 total student-athletes from the MW, a new league record.
The 36 student-athletes honored from CSU represent all four of the university's fall varsity athletics programs: men's and women's cross country, football and volleyball. Additionally, the total ties a school best for the fall awards; CSU also had 36 student-athletes awarded last year.
Women's cross country runner Hannah Pensack-Rinehart, a junior, led CSU student-athletes with a 3.99 cumulative grade-point average. A total of seven student-athletes held cumulative grade-point averages above 3.75.
In order to qualify for Fall 2012 Mountain West Academic All-Conference status, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic semester at the member institution, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's varsity contests this past season.
